Tulsi Gabbard and Syria

I am angered on behalf of Tulsi Gabbard. She is a Iraq war veteran. She has also been a representative of Hawaii in the senate since 2013. In 2016, she resigned the vice-chair of the Democratic National Committee to endorse Bernie Sanders’s campaign for the presidency. In recent month, this exemplary citizen’s name has been disgracefully dragged through the mud by the Democrats. She is also being brutalized by the media. The Wall Street Journal’s Bret Stephens recently described her stated views as “Dictator Apologetics.” This because she has consistently voiced an opinion that the government should be extremely cautious and get all the facts possible before they rush off to wage yet another war.

Gabbard is also rightly critical of the U.S. face in Syria. She correctly states that pushing so hard for the ousting of Assad the only served to help strengthen the position of Islamic extremists. She says that if Assad fails, these extremists will find it almost too easy to enter the country. That is something we should be resisting more than anything else. Extreme terrorists were the ones who carried out 9/11 and should definitely be at the top of our enemy list. Instead, we are giving them weapons and arms so that they can defeat Syria.

This past January, Gabbard paid an extremely controversial and much-criticized visit to Assad. However, she makes absolutely no apologies for doing so since if peace were ever to happen, someone had to have a person to person conversation with him. Gabbard has also been very critical of Trump’s airstrikes. He recently did one following a chemical attack that killed dozens of civilians and Assad is blamed as the perpetrator of this bombing. Gabbard says that peace is possible but insists that it can only transpire if these airstrikes cease immediately.

She has stated that there is oodles of hypocrisy involved in Trump supporters most of whom just the other day were adamantly opposed his strikes against Syria. But their not the only hypocrites. There is also Trump himself who while condemning attack on innocent victims has at the same time banned these innocent victims from migrating to the U.S. It would ideal to launch a full investigation into these recent bombings, but, unfortunately, the Democrats have imposed strict parameter guidelines that do away with that possibility. Trump’s administration also wouldn’t allow it since it would be very awkward for them if it was found that the Trump-sanctioned airstrike was in the wrong.
